パリ万博（1900年）のメイン会場として建設された歴史的建築物であり、展覧会場や国立美術館から構成されている Grand Palais（グラン・パレ）にて、『Art Paris Art Fair 2015』（http://artparis.fr/en）を開催。チームラボは、Grand Palaisを岩に見立て、シミュレーションされた滝を実際のGrand Palaisにプロジェクションマッピングした新作「Universe of Water Particles on the Grand Palais」を発表。また、Bogéna Galerie（ボジーナギャラリー）では、「追われるカラス、追うカラスも追われるカラス – Black in White」を展示します。期間は2015年3月26日(木)～2015年3月29日(日)まで。

コンピュータ上の空間にGrand Palaisを3Dで立体的に再現し、コンピュータ上でGrand Palaisに水を落下させ、水の動きを物理計算し、滝をシミュレーションする。Grand Palaisを岩に見立てて、シミュレーションされた滝を、実際のGrand Palaisにプロジェクションマッピングした作品。

水は、無数の水の粒子の連続体で表現し、粒子間の相互作用を計算している。滝を物理的に正確な水の運動シミュレーションとして構築しているのだ。

そして、全体の水の粒子の中からランダムで選んだ0.1%の水の粒子の挙動によって、空間上に線を描く。その線の集合で滝を描いている。つまり、無数の線の裏側には、その1000倍もの水の粒子が存在し、それら全体の相互作用によって、線の曲線が決まっているのだ。

そして、３次元空間上に立体的に描かれた滝を、我々が考える日本の先人達の空間認識の論理構造によって映像作品にしている。

At the Art Paris Fair 2015, teamLab will show a projection mapping of a waterfall simulated to flow over the stone surface of the Grand Palais; an historic architectural building, exhibition gallery, and national art gallery. Additionally, "Crows are Chased and the Chasing Crows are Destined to be Chased as Well – Black in White" will be exhibited at the Bogéna Galerie from the 26th of March to the 29th, 2015.

Universe of Water Particles on the Grand Palais

Projection mapping of a waterfall simulation onto a Grand Palais. The simulation of the waterfall was created by calculating the movement of water as it was allowed to fall on a 3D model of a Grand Palais in a virtual computer environment. With the Grand Palais like a rock, the waterfall simulation is projected onto a real Grand Palais for this projection mapping art work.

The water is expressed as continuum of hundreds of thousand of water particles that flow in accordance with how the computer calculates the interaction of the particles.

Once an accurate water flow simulation has been constructed 0.1% of the water particles are selected and lines drawn in relation to them. The waterfall is expressed as the combination of these lines. Behind the lines exist thousands of water particles and the curve of the lines drawn depends on their overall interaction.

The waterfall video art work is created in 3D space and uses what we consider to be the logic structure of spatial recognition of our Japanese Ancestors.
This art work is Seven times the resolution of FHD (Full high Definition). The high resolution allows for the extreme detail of the work.
